Blushing Fresh Anchovies

Nothing is more typical in Malaga than boquerones. Usually eaten fried they ae delicious as tapas or part of meals. However, can be a bit time consuming. This recipe in the oven is fast, easy and delicious.


Fresh anchovies



Sweet paprika

Bread crumbs (I use gluten-free but any will do)

Olive oil



Pre-heat oven to 180 C. Clean anchovies – remove heads and gut.

Oil oven dish. Place fish on top in a single layer.

Salt and pepper to taste.

Generously sprinkle paprika and breadcrumbs over top till well-coated.

Bake for 10-15 minutes or till breadcrumbs are toasted.

Serve with olive oil.

This dish went down very well. Just needed to remove the bones/spines.
